Europe's biggest event to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency: EU Sustainable Energy Week

23 - 27 June 2014

EU Sustainable Energy WeekEurope's leading event on sustainable energy is a European Commission initiative which invites public, private and academic institutions to engage in helping to meet the EU's energy and climate goals.

The Sustainable Energy Week highlights the use of sustainable resources, how to ensure a clean environment, secure energy sources and how to reduce energy waste.
To promote energy efficiency and renewable energies and to share best practices, not-for-profit events will be organized as Energy Days in Brussels, throughout Europe and worldwide.
In 2014 Energy Days can be organised during the entire month of June.

Seminar in Lodz: Improving energy efficiency up to 2020

On 15th April 2014 Lodz University of Technology is hosting a seminar titled 'Improving energy efficiency up to 2020'. The seminar deals with topics about the cooperation between science and industry with regards to technology, implementation, applications, legal and economy issues. Special Guests joining the event are the Vice-Marshal of the lodzkie Voivodeship, the Vice-Marshal of the malopolskie Voivodeship, the Vice-Rector of Lodz University of Technology and the Vice-Rector of Krakow University of Technology.

IEECB’14 in Frankfurt am Main

On 3rd April 2014 GPEE will actively participate at the 8th International Conference "Improving Energy Efficiency in Commercial Buildings" (IEECB'14) in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Nils Heinrich (Envidatec GmbH) will present the first scientific paper issued in frame of the GPEE project about "Simulation Assistance and Data Analysis for the Performance Evaluation of Buildings".

The paper describes a case study at Lodz University of Technology by using an office building of the university as test bed.

LealOn 12 February 2014 the GPEE Specialist Seminar about „New Trends in Energy Efficient Facade Technology" took place at the Ausbildungszentrum-Bau in Hamburg GmbH. Speakers from Poland and Germany presented their current results in the research project GPEE. Additional expert speakers showed the current situation of the German and Polish building markets. Around 50 participants from Universities and companies attended the seminar.

GPEE specialist seminar: „New Trends in Energy Efficient Facade Technology“

GPEE-Partner HAW Hamburg organizes on 12 february 2014 a specialist seminar about „New Trends in Energy Efficient Facade Technology". The half-day lecture event will take place from 8.30 – 13.00 hours in the premises of Ausbildungszentrum-Bau in Hamburg GmbH.

The event is followed by the opportunity to take part in an excursion from 14.00 – 16.00 hours to selected projects of the International Building Exhibition IBA Hamburg.

The event is free of charge. Seminar language is English.

ETRERA 2020 is organizing a call for proposals to showcase the most innovative projects and is inviting all the organizations to present their innovation projects made by collaboration between academia and industry that they consider to have been particularly successful in three fields of renewable energies: wind, solar and smart grids.

GPEE at the “week of energy”

From 4 to 7 november 2013 the Competence Center for renewable energies and energy efficiency (CC4E) organized for the 8th time the „week of energy". After the kick-off event on 4 november the following days focused thematically on photovoltaics, building technology, wind energy and power-to-heat.

The guests included not only politicians and scientists, but also students as well as about 60 representatives from industry and commerce. GPEE project was also present with extensive information material.

InBuild Conference Report

From 15 to 17 october 2013 two GPEE members, Ph.D. students Anna Machniewicz and Dominika Knera, participated in The International Conference "InBuild". The event was organized at the Technical University of Cracow in Polish Kings City. The scientific committee consisted of 40 people from seven countries: Poland, Slovakia, Germany, Canada, USA, Greece and Ireland. The main topic of the conference was innovative buildings with special emphasis on new material solutions and energy efficient systems. 54 articles in the field of civil and environmental engineering were presented.

Status seminar “Polish - German sustainability research call”

Prof. Dr. Walter Leal (Hamburg University of Applied Sciences) and Dr. Dariusz Heim (TU Lodz) proudly presented GPEE project at the status seminar "Polish - German sustainability research call" on 9 october 2013 - organized by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education during POLEKO 2013.

Kick-off Meeting for the „German-Polish Energy Efficiency Project (GPEE)“

Kick-off Meeting „German-Polish Energy Efficiency Project (GPEE) - HamburgOn 18 and 19 march 2013, the Kick-off Meeting for the „German-Polish Energy Efficiency Project (GPEE)" took place in Hamburg. In the course of the meeting, all partners were invited to the "Ausbildungszentraum Bau" training centre in Hamburg which works, in line with the theme, on the construction of energy-efficient facades. It was a successful meeting which covered the way forward and discussed an overview of the next three project years.
